About Josie

JosieI traded the sun of South Florida for the snow of Madison, Wisconsin. I’m a preppy Florida girl living in a Sconnie world. I’m a senior studying Life Science Communications and Digital Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Go Badgers! My favorite quote is “Work like a captain, party like a pirate.” In the crazy world of college you’ve got to work hard and play hard. There is no better place to do this than UW-Madison.

Science and writing have always been my passions, thanks to my parents. My mom graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in journalism, and I was lucky enough to come to Madison to combine the two loves into my Life Sciences Communication major. I really just stumbled into agricultural journalism after moving here, but I’ve always liked writing about health and space. You can find some samples of my writing on all kinds of different science topics here.

I love Disney, the Kennedy Space Center, and Lilly Pulitzer as a born and raised Florida girl. Country music is my guilty pleasure and I’m low key addicted to Spotify. My home is in the kitchen, and with a mom from Scotland and a dad from Georgia, I have a very eclectic recipe book of southern comfort food and UK delights.

I’m excited to combine my passion for science and love for all things fun and preppy here at Josie Pozies with Science Style and In the Kitchen. Everything in the world is related to science, so why not look into the chemistry of cooking and physics of fashion?

corgisI have three corgis (Phoebe, Penny and Winston Churchill) and a cat (Rey) that I adore. Be prepared to see lots of pet pictures here. I’m even a collegiate ambassador for Welsh Wear, a preppy clothing company with a love for corgis. I mean hellooooo. Could it be more perfect? My whole family is animal crazy, which is part of the reason I fell in love with the agriculture and dairy industries when I moved up to Wisconsin.

I’m excited to get to know y’all. Join me for all the ups, downs, and in-betweens of college life.
